Jurij Hudolin

Jurij Hudolin, born in Ljubljana in 1973, is a poet, writer, columnist and translator. He has published a number of poetry collections and novels and is known for the rich language he uses and a rebellious rejectionist stance towards the world. He grew up in Ljubljana and for a while near Pula in Istria before returning to Ljubljana to complete his secondary education and going on to study comparative literature and Serbo-Croatian at the University of Ljubljana. He published his first collection of poetry entitled Če je laž kralj (If Lies are King) in 1991 and has since published a further six poetry collections as well as three novels. His poetry has been published in many literary journals and anthologies both at home and abroad and his novels are well received amongst reades and critics alike.

Rdeča istrska prst

Sedim na vrtu v stolu iz protja,
kakor v pleteničju črk, besed, ki sem jih
danes začivirikal in so takoj sprhnele v pozabo,
gledam v odsev
sončne svetlobe v vedru vode, kjer namakam noge,
opazujem rožmarin, sivko, figo, oljko, lovor in
višnjo, vse omamno diši in zato sem tu doma.
Včasih ubijam lubadarje in škorpijone, da preženem
popoldansko melanholijo in manično ošabnost
sodobnega časa in se potem kakor podlasica
prihuljim, živim onkraj demarkacijske črte,
kjer je najbolj nevarno pomankanje samozavesti,
strah in ritolizništvo prebijeta vsak zvočni zid.
Bilo je včasih, ko se je bolezen v meni
že pošteno razkomodila, bil sem že v depadansi
zla in me je prvič močno prevevalo, da je največja
dobrina in življenjska progresija primitivizem in
kompozicija nesoglasij in kovnica kompleksov,
a bil sem močan kot boškarin,
da bi sesul vsako transportno vozilo, ki pelje novo pošiljko
senzitivnosti.
V uporabi žaljivk imam velike izkušnje,
za vrt na rdeči zemlji dajem več,
ne z besedo – klecajočim kljusetom: morje bi zarjovelo
kakor klano govedo od te ljubezni,
kot nož, ki ga brusim v konobi, ko fermentira malvazija,
ljubiti rdečo zemljo bolj od vsakega slehernika,
da se spet rodi besedna vez: biti človek.
